Skardu is a Capital town of Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. The region is the better manifestation of hospitality and value to the vacationer at a height of 2,438 meters above sea level surrounded by fantastic peaks of the Karakorum. It edges on the Chinese province of Xinjiang and Indian-occupied Kashmir. The perfect traveler season is from April to October. Roses, lilies, willow, pine, fir trees and shrubs are found by the bucket load. Apples, apricots, peaches, plums mulberry, walnuts, and grapes can be found from June to October and almonds from October to March.

Baltistan offers animals like markhors, ibexes, snow leopards and wild birds, specifically chakors, partridges, and ducks.  Hunting permits are released by the neighborhood administration. 

Skardu district is situated at the confluence of river Indus and the Shyok river and makes the bottom camp for leading holiday destinations in Gilgit-Baltistan including K-2. The people living in this region are called Balti and are an assortment of Tibetan and Caucasian stock and speak Balti, a historical form of Tibetan. Because of the similarity of its culture, lifestyle, and structures with Tibet, Baltistan is also called the "Tibet-e-Khurd". 

The region is suitable for mountaineering and trekking. NOC for mountaineering and trekking is released by the Ministry of Travel and Tourism, Pakistan.  Skardu is a beautiful place of Pakistan better known for its most eye-catching places as:

Buddha Rock Carvings

Back to the 8th century AD, an enormous Buddha figure encircled by small Buddhisatvas is carved on a rock and roll, 3 kilometers from Skardu on  Skardu Sadpara Road. Pre traditional men and pet results are carved on stones along Kachura Lake. Some rock and roll carvings and diagram of many monastery are also found near Perkuta (Mehdi Abad) Nalah.

Kharpocho Fort

The Skardu historic Fort  named as the Kharpochu Fort,  the king of forts is situated on the hill over looking the city. It was designed by Ali Sher Khan Anchan, who ruled over Baltistan untill the end of 16th century.

Shigar Valley

The gateway to the fantastic peaks of the Karakoram, Gasherbrum and K-2, is merely 23 km from Skardu by road. The Shigar valley's delicate, irrigated slopes are filled up with terraces of whole wheat, maize, and barley. The orchards of apricots, mulberries, peaches, plums, pears, apples and nut products are unique to Baltistan. The famous solid wood mosque in the center of the city was built by Kashmiri carpenters several centuries ago.

Khaplu Valley

This beautiful valley of the Shyok River is 103 kilometers east of Skardu. Khaplu is the starting place for some trekking and climbing expeditions. Many famous mountains such as Masherbrum, Saltoro, Sia Kangri, K-6, and K-7 can be found here. Chaqchan Mosque is one of the initial mosques in Baltistan related to Syed Ali Hamdani. There's a Palace of Raja of Khaplu and remains of Thorsikhar Fort.

Sadpara Lake

About 8 kilometers north of Skardu and 20 minutes by jeep lays Sadpara Lake, encircled by glacial mountains, that is mirrored in its superior waters. The lake has a fairy tale island in the center linked by country boats that one may row. The lake is abounded in seafood and is known as perfect for angling.

Kachura Lake

About 32 km (20 miles) from Skardu and 2 hours by jeep lay the shimmering peaceful deep Kachura Lake, teeming with brown trout. For the period of the spring season, many exotic and colorful flowers adorn its lake, white peach, apricot and apple trees are laden with blossoms in April. Later in the summer one can taste the apples, which are a particularly of delicious variety.


Day 1: Pick up point Rawalpindi Arrive at Islamabad Airport, meet the local representative, guided and drive through KKH and head towards Skardu via Abbottabad, Chilasalong river Indus, Check in and Overnight stay in Chilas Hotel.

Day 2: Open buffet breakfast, Prepare to leave for Skardu via Bunji , the next destination arrive Skardu and check in , overnight stay in Hotel Skardu.

Day 3: Open buffet breakfast, prepare for the day excursion to Sadpara lake, Deosai planes , Drive back to Skardu, overnight stay in Skardu Hotel.

Day 4: Open buffet breakfast, Prepare for day excursion, visit Shigar Valley, leave for Khaplu (102 KM) 4 hours drive Check in , Overnight stay in Hotel.

Day 5: Open buffet breakfast, prepare to leave for Skardu, leisure visit Kachura Lake Shangrilla Resort. Overnight stay in Skardu.

Day 6: Open buffet breakfast, Check out and leave for Chilas, 320 KM 8 hours , Overnight stay in Chilas.

Day 7: Open buffet breakfast, after having sumptuous breakfast Check - out , drive back to Rawalpindi Islamabad.
